Her Majesty

My sister is a dark eyed Beautiful girl
Who was born into a Separate World
Of Royalty and Reason.
If you look, you will see Beauty
In her Mystery, and a History
That few have seldom seen.
Every daughter is a princess
She was certainly a Queen.
Some say we’re like Day and Night
A southern cross and a northen light
She’s half a world away from me
Still she’s half the world to me
And I wonder if she knows it.
There was a time when she admired me
And saw a Freedom I did not see
In my Petrified Performance.
I could not bring myself to tell her
In every spotlight’s splendor
I was hiding from Myself…
The place for Fallen Idols
Is on a childhood shelf.
Some say we’re like Night and Day.
A northern star and her castaway.
She’s half a world away from me.
Still she’s half the world to me
And I wonder if she knows it.
I watched my sister marry
High upon a hill.
I thought to myself as sister’s will
About growing up before her.
But before her vows were over
I wrote these words for her
And was unprepared…
I watch her Soar, and achieve the dreams
That are not mine to share.
Some say we’re like Day and Night
A southern cross and a northen light
She’s half a world away from me
Still she’s half the world to me
And I wonder if she knows it…
